Celebrate with a little budgeting and a lot of fun! Every holiday season, we have a few Christmas traditions that we do with the girls. I’m sharing some of those right here with you mamas who might be looking for a way to have some budget-friendly fun with the kiddos during the holidays.
Gingerbread House
First and foremost, gingerbread houses are a must! Finding cool gingerbread house kits and putting them together is our favorite thing to do during the holidays. This year we found a very awesome Hersheys Chocolate Cookie House at Big Lots for only $6.99.. amazing price right?!
Christmas Charcuterie Board
Another fun activity we do are DIY charcuterie boards filled with our favorite Christmas treats. Our boards typically consist of chocolate chip and sugar cookies, red velvet cake bites, candy canes, various chocolates and yummy fruits. There’s so much you can do with it! Regardless of how you decide to decorate it, just make it your own and have fun!
Back Porch Popsicles
Ok, so as crazy as this might sound, we were able to make popsicles on the back porch this year while we were all home for Christmas break. Although we don’t typically get freezing temps here in the south, we did this year at a whopping 8 degrees.. burrr! And we took full advantage of it by doing our own little science experiment on the back porch. We literally just made a pitcher of Kool-aid, took a popsicle tray that we already had and filled it with Kool-aid, then left it on the porch overnight and wallah! The girls woke up to homemade popsicles and they were beyond excited. Another inexpensive, yet fun activity for the family. If you live in a city that experiences cold temperatures around the holidays this would be a perfect activity to do with your kids!
